Week 10 Preview

Last season BHP traveled to Greenville with the region championship wrapped up, and it showed. Greenville jumped out to a 21-14 lead going into halftime. BHP was able to regain the lead and take the win in the shootout with Greenville, 43-40.

This season the story is drastically different. Greenville will travel to BHP and for most people they look to be the better team so far this season and this year’s match up will crown a region champion. BHP comes into the game relying on a strong running game and a dominant defense. Greenville enters the game with an explosive offense and a surprisingly good defense. Greenville has scored the 2nd most points (407 points) and allowed the 3rd fewest total points (98 points) in AAAA this season. This showdown will be something new for BHP. It has been years since the region title has come down to the final game of the season.

Playoff Outlook

With a win over Greenville, BHP will lock up 1st place in the region and lock in home field advantage for at least two playoff games. In this scenario BHP would take on the 4th place team in Region 2. This looks like it will be Blue Ridge.

If BHP loses they will be 2nd in Region 1 and would take on the 3rd place team in Region 2. With a win over Travelers Rest, the 3rd place team will be Union County. BHP will have a first round home playoff game.

Wrap Up

There is not much left to say or see from the Bears, they are who they are at this point in the season. With that, they have a very, very good defense and an offense that can at times move the ball at will. They are in a position to attain a season goal of a region title and to win the title it will take a special game by the Bears. It will be an extraordinary night for the Bears as they celebrate and honor all the senior players, however the focus must be on the game ahead to win a championship.

Watching the Bears the last couple of weeks we see BHP being able to slow down the Greenville offense. If BHP can stay away from a shootout, they will come out the victor. We see BHP winning 28-21 and taking the region title for a second year in a row.
