Bear fans, Friday night against Palmetto took a few years off all of our lives, and I’m still not sure I’ve gotten them back. This week we walk back through every twist of a 24-23 overtime win, give James Johnson the shoutout he has earned, and talk about a new wrinkle in the offense that has me excited. BHP left Abbeville without playing a snap on Friday night, came back Monday, and left without giving up a single point. Now the Bears finally get back home, as BHP hosts Greenwood this Friday in a matchup that has never happened before in the history of either program.

It was the first win of the season and the first for Coach Crane at BHP. Now the Bears hit the road at 1-2 to face an Abbeville team BHP haven't beaten since 1993 and haven't visited since a 1995. BHP dropped to 0-2 for the first time since 2008 after a 45-7 road loss to Daniel, but the scoreboard buried the real story of a young Bears team that held one of 3A's best offenses to 80 yards in the first quarter and outscored the Lions coming out of the half. The offseason gave Bear Fans plenty to sit with. A season that ended wrong, a coaching change, weeks of waiting, and finally Coach Crane's name on the door. Now BHP hosts T.L. Hanna in the 27th meeting between these two and the first since 2021, two of the most consistent programs in the state finally back on the same field. Call it a preseason tradition now, but I can't start a season without proposing 5 questions that will shap the upcoming campaign. This year the list came easy, because the questions are everywhere. New head coach, a new quarterback picture, and a schedule that might be the toughest in program history. From what a Coach Crane team will actually look like to whether this offense can be even more dangerous than the last few years, here is where I landed.
