2019 Week 8 Bear Tracks

BHP hosted their Anderson county rival Palmetto on Friday night and just as so many times before, BHP came away with a double-digit victory. It was military appreciation night at BHP and it would have taken a full army on the Palmetto side to slow down BHP’s offense. BHP’s offense was the star of the night once again and had one of their best performances of the season. The win over Palmetto puts BHP at 5-1 for the season and more importantly, 2-0 in region play.

With that win, Coach Blackston gets to a level of wins no BHP head coach has ever made. The win over Palmetto was Coach Blackston’s 89th career win which makes him the winningest coach in BHP history. Congratulations Coach!

Week 8 Preview

BHP now turns their focus to another region foe, Pickens. Pickens comes into the game 2-4 with their wins coming against Liberty and Berea. BHP’s all-time record against Pickens is 22-10-1, although the last time BHP lost to Pickens was in 1999 (13-6).

The biggest challenge this week for BHP is not looking ahead to next week’s match-up with Wren. Pickens’ offensive style can slow the game down and reduce the number of overall drives. This can make every possession important because of the limited chances and can turn the game into a luck of the draw. Nevertheless, BHP should expect to put up a lot of points offensively.

Conclusion

BHP stays undefeated in region play. That is the goal now. Taking care of business should be the only thing BHP should focus on this week. No matter the opponent, we want to see both the offense and defense make a statement and execute a great game. We are still looking for that game where both the offense and defense click on all cylinders together.

Prediction: BHP 56 - Pickens 10
