2021 Week 3 Bear Tracks

A BHP game week is always exciting. Even though the Bears will not be playing Palmetto, it will be great to get the Bears back on the field and see how they can respond to the loss against Powdersville. And at this rate, who knows what team will be on the other sideline come Friday.

This was posted before the BHP vs Broome game was rescheduled.

What a week can do to your perspective. With BHP coming off a last-second win against Westside, a AAAA school, by running a very powerful and effective offense while coming up big on defense; the feeling after the game was jubilant. Fast forward 7 days and the mood is not quite the same. The defensive stops and positive offensive movement just were not there against Powdersville and the feeling after the loss was quite different than the one after the win.

However, BHP gets another shot at regaining that momentum they had coming out of the Westside game this Friday night. Although maybe not against the opponent they had expected.

Week 3 Preview

BHP was scheduled to play little brother rival Palmetto this week, but due to Covid contact and out of an abundance of caution, the game was canceled. BHP wasted no time contacting and scheduling a game with Woodmont and it was scheduled for all of a couple of hours. For a reason unknown to us, BHP has replaced Woodmont with the Broome Centurions.

BHP will have a huge task to deal with in Broome's offense. Broome's quarterback Dylan Ramirez has passed for 683 yards and rushed for 144 yards in the first two games of the season (847 total yards). To put that in perspective, BHP has 704 total yards as a team this season.

Along with that, BHP will need to right the ship on the offensive side as well. Even while leading every offensive category last Friday night against Powdersville except for points, BHP still lost by 15 points. BHP will have to find ways to convert the extended drives into touchdowns or find ways to manufacture big plays on offense.

Broome will travel to BHP with a 1-1 record after losing their first game to Powdersville 46-28 and winning against Chesnee 48-41 last week. In the loss to Powdersville, Broome was up 22-17 at halftime, but Powdersville's quick score offense struck in the 3rd quarter outsourcing Broome 21-3.

Nevertheless, we are excited to get the Bears back on the field and hopefully, they will put on another performance as they did against Westside.
