What a week it has been for the Bears. Let us recap: out of an abundance of caution the BHP vs Palmetto game was canceled on Monday. Later Monday, BHP had a game scheduled against Woodmont. Then, the next day, the game against Woodmont was canceled and Broome took their spot and was scheduled to face the Bears on 9/3. Less than 24 hours later, the game scheduled on 9/3 was rescheduled for BHP’s bye week on 9/17. Within 3 days, BHP went from game planning and practicing for Palmetto, Woodmont, Broome, and now T.L. Hanna.
I am not sure if you call that a whirlwind or a tornado, but when the dust settled, BHP was able to get a few extra days to plan for T.L. Hanna. And in facing last season’s AAAAA State runner-up, BHP will need all the time they can get.
The 3rd game of the season brings the 3rd Anderson County matchup for the Bears. For the last few years, the Yellow Jackets of T.L. Hanna have become one of the top teams in the upper state at the highest classification. This year looks to be no different as they start this season off undefeated and are ranked #3 in AAAAA. T.L. Hanna is 2-0 coming into this match-up with wins over Laurens (23-17) and Wren (27-16).
BHP will look to bounce back from a loss against Powdersville. With that, it will be important for BHP to get off to a fast start at the beginning of each half. T.L. Hanna has not scored a point in the first or third quarter of their games this season. The extra days of game planning hopefully this will give the Bears an edge over the Yellow Jackets. However, T.L. Hanna did not have a game scheduled either last week so they also will be rested and ready to get back on the field this Friday Night.
