2021 Week 7 Bear Tracks

BHP hosted the reigning 2A State Champion Abbeville last week. Even when BHP jumped out to a 15-7 lead, the second half once again became something out of a horror movie. At the end of the night, Abbeville stayed undefeated and BHP must once again look to rebound after a loss.

As a new game week comes, new challenges and importance come as well. With the start of region play for the Bears, each game takes on playoff implications, but in order to get there, BHP has to take it one game at a time.

Week 7 Preview

BHP looks to open region play against a Pendleton team that BHP has been happy to match up with in the past. BHP has never lost to Pendleton and the Bears are looking to keep that streak going this Friday night.

Pendleton comes into the game with only one win coming against West-Oak, 41-6. The Bulldogs opened the season with 4 straight losses against Clinton, Holy Innocents Episcopal (GA), Pickens, and Powdersville. Their last loss came against Palmetto last week (giving Palmetto their first win of the season). Pendleton is allowing nearly 40 points per game while averaging just over 21.

BHP will have to play both halves at a high level. BHP has been able to put together very good first halves all year, but the second halves have been nightmares for the Bears. BHP has been outscored in the second half of games this season 92-31. Along with the scoring disparity, BHP has not found the endzone through the air in the second half.

BHP needs to put together their best all-around game not only to win but to start gaining momentum. So far this year they have not been able to string wins together, so BHP needs to use this game to springboard into region play and hopefully make some noise in the region and playoffs.

Conclusion

BHP comes into the game against Pendleton with a losing record, but all three losses came against currently undefeated teams. The good news is, Pendleton is not undefeated and at the end of the night, I believe BHP will no longer have a losing record.

Prediction: BHP 35 - Pendleton 21
