BHP went on their longest road trip of the season as they traveled up I-85 to take on the Greer Yellow Jackets. Although the Bears played one of their best defensive games of the year, BHP took the bus ride home with another loss. However, in the grand scheme of the season and region play, that game was more of a way for the Bears to gear up for the rest of region play.

Now BHP looks to turn their focus squarely on region opponents for the rest of the season, and this week's opponent will be a familiar one, the Seneca Bobcats. With another Bear Friday Night comes another opportunity to take steps toward playoff seeding and a region championship.

Week 9 Preview

BHP will host the Seneca Bobcats as BHP gets back to region play. BHP and Seneca have faced each other every year BHP has been in existence except for 7 seasons, and most of those seasons had playoff implications, this season being no different. For the most part, the winner of this game will lock up the third seed from Region 1, however, BHP could put themselves in the position for even better seeding with later games.

Seneca comes into this game 5-3 on the season, but 0-2 in the region. Seneca got off to a fast start going 5-1 in their first 6 games. With wins over Blacksburg, Palmetto, Emerald, Eastside, and West-Oak. The only loss in their non-region slate was against Easley. Seneca then opened region play with Daniel and Wren back to back, both resulting in a loss.

Even with the losing skid, Seneca has scored 329 points this year, compared to BHP’s 169. BHP has not faced a potent offense like this all season.

BHP will need to bring the same kind of defensive performance as they had for the majority of the game against Greer in order to slow down the Bobcat offense. The Bears also need to do a better job converting drives into points and continue to dominate the time of possession battle.
