2019 Week 3 Bear Tracks

Watching the play on the field Friday night felt like we were in an emergency room after suburban moms were given power tools and had just finished a Fixer Upper watch party; there were a lot of self inflicted injuries. The injuries were not physical for the most part, but turnovers that crushed BHP’s ability put together scoring drives. Although BHP was within striking distance of the lead the whole game, BHP either had a turnover or a costly penalty that derailed their comeback over and over again on Friday night.

But now that must be put in the rearview, because one of the top teams in the entire state will be coming to BHP this week for opening night at the home of the Bears.

Week 3 Preview

BHP will have their home opener this Friday night against fellow Anderson County school T.L. Hanna. BHP has played T.L. Hanna 23 times and has a record of 8-15 against them. Recently T.L. Hanna has transformed into one of the best teams in the state, culminating last season in a State Championship birth.

Last season’s matchup was one of the most lopsided losses for the Bears in the last 20 years. The Bears were not able to slow the Yellow Jackets’ offense down and 5 different rushers had a touchdown.

BHP will be facing the best team they will face all season both offensively and defensively. The Yellow Jackets run an offense that is built on repetition and discipline and it will take both of those to slow it down from the Bears. BHP will have to put together their best four quarters in order to shock the upper state football world.

Quick Stats

Conclusion

We come to a place where BHP rarely finds themselves; in a position to have a losing record at any point in the season. The last time BHP lost back-to-back regular season games was in weeks 8 and 9 of 2011. This is where the Bears find themselves now, but let’s not forget that they are also in a position to get a signature win and show the state just how special the Bears are.

Prediction: BHP 21 - TL Hanna 20 (so what if I’m a homer)
